Joomla 3.5.0 beta

Today was published Joomla 3.5 beta 2 version. First beta is intended for testing while the final version is set to be published on February 17. this year. New version brings some new features and many bug updates. Among the features important to average users are delete alert for items. I am not sure if this beta version brings this feature because in my case it didn't work but it is meant to be implemented in the final version. I hope it will be implemented for images, not only for article items.

Another interesting feature is an update notification via email which is useful for administrators that visit backend occasionally. Also, administrators will now be able to see a little more detailed statistics for articles, like the number of published and unpublished articles and those that are placed in the trashed section of the website. Useful upgrade also comes with the TinyMCE editor where images can be placed with drag&drop features.

New Joomla! 3.5 will come with the plugin which will send an anonymous statistics to developers about the usage (Joomla! version, PHP and MySQL version...), but if you are concerned about the privacy (yours and your visitors) you will be able to disable the plugin.

At the end I would like to say few words about the very useful feature that the hard working administrators will appreciate. The module called User Status comes with two new buttons with which you can enable or disable link that opens the administrator interface in a new window. In current versions of Joomla! you can only open new Site window/tab via direct link but not the new administrator interface. With the new button Show View Administrator a new link will be displayed next to View Site link. From now on you will not need to manually open new browser tab/window and manually type your website's administrator address. To new users this may seem like not-so-important feature but those that spend a lot of their time administering websites will know why it is useful. One reason, for example, is that the main Joomla! menu is not accessible while you are editing articles, modules or plugins. In that case, if you want to access another section of your website while maintaining editing article/module/plugin, you need to manually type an URL to administrator page. From now on you can access it with just one simple click.

I should point out once again that the new beta version is meant only for test websites and it is not recommended for live and active websites.
